My friend Peter would be quite proud of me for this next celebrity encounter. Although she made appearances here and there in few shows and movies I’ve seen – for example Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and the TV series Buffalo Bill with Dabney Coleman – the number one reason that I purchased a signed photo of Joanna Cassidy was because she played the pivotal role of Zhora in the classic sci-fi film Blade Runner. And if I wanted extra brownie points, I might also note that she had appeared in the Mission: Impossible TV series as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Linda Purl and the Richie/Opie Circle

So get this. Actress Linda Purl, in one of her early roles, portrayed Gloria on the TV show Happy Days. Gloria was the occasional girlfriend of Ron Howard’s character Richie on the show. Then she would return to the series eight seasons later to play Ashley, who was Fonzie’s steady girlfriend for that year. One wouldn’t automatically assume that Linda Purl was involved in some complex and bizarre plot to stalk her former TV boyfriend Ron Howard merely based on that information. No matter how great any road trip is, they all have one thing in common: they must at some point come to an end. The last day for Bob and me to be on the road was Friday, April 1, 2011. We woke up in our motel in Phoenix, Arizona, wished each other a happy birthday for the fourth year in a row, and headed out on our last day’s adventures. I was rather excited for our first stop, mostly because it involved eating breakfast. We had stopped by here the night before, but they had been closed – so we decided to come back for our morning meal to Mel’s Diner. The Tan Man and the Gay Blade

If you were to go to Google.com and type in “Tan Actor”, who do you supposed would be the number one response both in the Images or the Web entries? If you guessed George Hamilton, then you are as sharp as a gay blade. Mostly that is all the average Joe knows about George Hamilton. I knew just slightly more. I knew that he had portrayed Zorro (and his gay twin brother) in the 1981 comedy Zorro, the Gay Blade. I chose to focus more on the Zorro connection than the tan. Read the rest of this entry »
