One Cool Cat

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Even though I’m the consummate Superman fan, I must admit that I have yet to work my way through the four seasons of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. (Mind you, the DVDs are all sitting in my basement ready to be watched – and will be soon). Even still, when I learned that Tracy Scoggins was going to be present at the Hollywood Show on April 2, 2011, I had this nagging feeling that I knew her from something non-Superman related. Jackie Brown and Other Brown Movies

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Slipping in between the immensely popular Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill duology, was a the more subdued and subtle Quentin Tarentino film Jackie Brown. Not quite as impactful as its surrounding sister films, it is nonetheless a masterwork that I enjoy tremendously. One cool aspect of the film is that Tarentino chose the largely forgotten Pam Grier for the lead title role. Blue October in April

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Following the Easter holiday, my focus was mostly on getting prepared for my upcoming trip; there was a lot of grass cutting, laundry folding, finding autographs, searching out DD&Ds and movie locations, getting slightly ahead on this here website, uploading CDs, visiting the library, and getting Mindy and her daughter Taylor prepped to take care of Tiny and Baby. I consider the TV show Cheers to be one of the all-time classic sitcoms, and it hovers right near the top of the list of my favorites. So when I heard that the actor who portayed the unsung sardonic, chubby dude who typically sat at the end of the bar by Norm and Cliff was going to be at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on February 11, 2012, I moved up to the top of my priority list for this show. He might not of been swarmed with fans and had lines out the door, but there’s no doubt that he was one of the big highlights for me. Read the rest of this entry »

Kristine in Wonderland

Monday, April 16th, 2012

I guess her claim to fame is that she was the leading actress in Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Comedy, a 1976 adult film which was obviously based on the fairy tale. But I didn’t know Kristine DeBell until she entered the regular mainstream and starred as the incredibly cute and endearing counselor A.L. in the Bill Murray summer camp romp Meatballs. There were also plenty of TV appearances for Kristine in the late 70’s and early 80’s, chief among them Night Court, Eight Is Enough, CHiPs, and Barnaby Jones. Read the rest of this entry »
