The last day of vacation is always a little bit melancholy because you know that soon you will be thrust back in the daily grind of everyday life. This one was a bit easier as I knew that even after the long drive home on Sunday, I’d have an additional day off to recuperate. This day was quite fun, really. On Saturday morning March 24, we went out to the indoor pool and I took Adam in with me. It was a fun challenge to get hime to enjoy the water and feel comfortable being in the strange conditions of water immersion. He did well. After we got out, I laid out for a bit and soaked up some rays.

Time to dry off
That afternoon we headed to the La Belle Amie Vineyards in North Myrtle Beach. Although they did have a free tour available, Mom, Denise, Ash, Adam, and I chose to just chill out on a blanket in the warm Spring sun and listen to the music. On that particular day, the live Big Band festival was being held on the grounds, so it was nice and relaxing to hear my type of tunes. The Eds came along too, but we got separated once we arrived…and they ended up leaving earlier than we did after get attacked by red fire ants.
We were able to sample the various types of wine before deciding on our purchase. We all split a bottle of one of the white wines. In the gift shop, we purchased magnets and Mom bought a bottle of sickeningly sweet red wine to take home to Bob, which she ended up cracking open on Mother’s Day. I had to spit it out into the sink.

Matriarch of My Gang
That evening, My Gang went out to Preston’s, a delicious seafood buffet, for the early bird special. One last chance to engorge ourselves while in ‘vacation eating-mode’! We all spent the evening together, playing games and watching more TV on DVD. This vacation will be forever inextricably linked with Family Ties season one and Diff’rent Strokes season two. We never did get to play ping-pong.

We left very early on Sunday morning and made pretty good time driving home. I snapped one last ‘landmark’ photo at a rest stop in North Carolina – just to say I was there.
So until next time, so long Myrtle Beach. You are hot and sticky, but I love you.
P.S. The theme song of this trip was Gimme Dat Ding by the Pipkins.
