ea3The autographs from the Friday the 13th series continue with another unique character in the series canon: Rob Dier, who actually set out in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter to avenge his sister Sandra Dier, who was killed off in the second film. This was rather unique to have not only an avenging relative, but also someone who makes it right up to the very end along with the ‘final girl’ – in this case Trish (played by Kimberly Beck). Unfortunately, although we don’t really see the death on screen, Rob doesn’t make it.

Rob was played by actor E. Erich Anderson. I hadn’t really seen him in much else, except for a recurring role in the TV series Felicity as Felicity’s protective father Dr. Edward Porter. He’s also had quite a few other lucrative recurring roles in popular series such as Dallas, thirtysomething, and NYPD Blue, not to mention a slew of one-off guest appearances.

But of course it was the Friday the 13th connection that interested me when he appeared at the Cincinnati HorrorHound on Sunday, March 23, 2014. Thusly, he became my first celebrity encounter of the year.

He was a nice guy and we talked a bit about Kimberly Beck, who had previously signed the photo that I brought along. I relayed my tale about how I had found out upon meeting her that she had been in the film Yours, Mine, and Ours. He didn’t seem to know that…or even care…but nonetheless, he was pretty nice. I also mentioned how I had considered traveling to Charlotte that weekend, where Corey Feldman (also in the photo) was signing autographs. Even though I missed that opportunity, I hope to have another by year’s end.

He charged the nominal $20 for the autograph and offered a free photo with both Carolyn and me. It was nice to see him. He was a guy I wish that Jason never got his hatchet into.
