"Thank you, toilet bowl" - Bill Cosby, "Bill Cosby: Himself"

edie2Edie McClurg has the face and perky voice that one will never forget. She’s made appearances in several TV shows, even as a regular on The Hogan Family, and films. Two particular films come to mind in which she had parts so memorable, she stole the scenes in which she appeared. The first was Ferris Bueller’s Day Off where she appears as the befuddled secretary Grace to Mr. Rooney. The second is the subject of this posting.

In Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, there is a scene in which Steve Martin berates car rental agent Edie McClurg, spewing forth the F-word no less than eighteen times. When he finally tells her that he has thrown away the rental agreement, her final response and punchline is the phrase used as the title of this posting.

When I met Edie McClurg at the Hollywood Celebrity Show on July 18, 2009, I found her to be quite kind and charming. I purchased a photo of her and asked her to sign it using this great punchline. She was hesitant, but obviously found it quite humorous. We ended up agreeing on the inscription as seen in the photo at the top of the posting.

I had to be satisfied with this – and of course getting my picture taken with her. Although I had hoped for the full inscription to own as a conversation piece, I guess I was just f___ed!
