"...But where would I find such a man? Why am I asking you." - Hedley Lamarr, "Blazing Saddles"

I have just recently begun to explore the world of James Bond. Never having much interest before, I am know slowly working my way chronologically through the catalog. I haven’t come upon On Her Majesty’s Secret Service yet, but when I do, I will meet the only actor who only portrayed James Bond once in the Bond canon of films. Assuming this series will hold me in rapt attention, I took the opportunity to greet this actor George Lazenby when he appeared at the Burbank Hollywood Show on July 18, 2009.

Lazenby’s career didn’t do much after – or before – the Bond role. He had previously been one of the actors portraying the Marlboro Man in the commercials – and would go on to star in Kentucky Fried Movie. He also had a cameo in the TV series Superboy, playing Jor-El. Mostly his name has become synonymous with an actor who only played a given role one time.

Our meeting was thoroughly uneventful. I plunked down $20 for the signed photo above, he signed it, and then went through the motions of posing for the photo. On a scale of 1 to 10 on friendliness, I guess I’d give George Lazenby a 007.
