Valerie Perrine’s real breakout role came in 1974, when she starred as the wife of comedian Lenny Bruce in the film Lenny. For this role, she was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. She then went on to some acclaim when she played Mrs. W.C. Fields (Carlotta Monti) in W.C. Fields and Me. It is my duty to tell you of these achievements and acclaimed roles, but for a Superman buff such as myself, the real important part that she played was that of Eve Teschmacher in both Superman and Superman II. As the busty live-in mistress of the villainous Lex Luthor, her change of heart eventually allows her to help Superman escape Lex’s evil clutches.

And even though she is approaching 70, I didn’t mind having her in my clutches for a few minutes when I saw her at the Hollywood Show on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Her signed photos were a bit pricey at $25 a pop, but she didn’t mind posing for a picture as well…and it was a nice shot of her in her blond wig from the first Superman.

Lex, my mother lives in Hackensack…
