Following our enjoyable afternoon with Lois Laurel Hawes, Jimmy and I rushed over to Mori’s Teppan Grill, a Japanese steakhouse, where we were to meet up with the elder Wileys, the Duffs, and David. This was to be my very last evening with my California friends. As vacation time nears its end, it seems the clock is set into rapid-rotating motion. It felt like I had been out West for a month with all of the activity we had packed in, but now it was down to the wire – a relaxing evening with my friends at the steakhouse and then dessert at Dave’s place. Dinner was good, and everyone seemed chipper -despite our tardiness. John ate like three bowls of rice which seemed an incredible feat to me.

It was really nice to kick back afterward at David’s house, again amidst all of the cool Disney paraphanalia and the great Ultra-Lounge tracks he popped in. Since Bob had left to return to his place in San Bernardino to recuperate that morning, we all put him on speaker phone for a bit so he could join our ‘party.’ The cake was good. The company was good. And it was a nice way to end the week.

The next morning, Sunday, February 18, the Wileys were kind enough to treat me to breakfast at Rex’s Cafe (as if they hadn’t done enough already) and then take me to the airport. My flight didn’t leave LAX until 12:55 pm so it was nice not to have a rushed morning – although it didn’t bring me home until late. The first leg of my flight was really nice as I was seated next to an extrememly attractive college gal. My layover was only one hour in Dallas, and I barely had enough time to grab some Subway before boarding my final flight into Dayton. This was was nice, too, as I sat next to no one – and could stretch out. Mom picked me up in Dayton at 10:20 pm.
It was freezing cold and snow covered the roads and my driveway. How depressing to come home to this and then have to report to work the next morning. Thank God that the crummy weather is over and now during the Summer of ’07, I am still basking in the memories of another one of the greatest vacations of my life. Hooray for Hollywood!
