At last…at long last, I present to you…Deb and Hilly. It was some twenty-five years in the making – as I entered the planning stages, plotted, pined and longed, and finally encountered these two teenage vixens who represented the geek’s unattainable ideals, only to be conquered and won over by geeks like me. Yes, I’m referring of course to the two classmates of Wyatt and Gary in the epic teenage 80’s film Weird Science.
I’ve mentioned before how this film had taken on iconic proportions thanks to my friendship with Eric Hubble, with whom whilst getting drunk four nights in a row during a blurry week in Bucyrus, we quoted this film repeatedly verbatim ad nauseum. In fact, when we met two girls at the Cedar Point amusement park, we actually referred to them as Deb and Hilly.
So meeting anyone who starred in this opus is always a special treat. Now I will admit that during viewings of the film itself, my crush was always on Deb, the blonde girl. Suzanne Snyder was the first of the two whom I met at the Chiller Theatre show in Parsippany, New Jersey, on Saturday, April 30, 2011. She was still very attractive, extremely nice, and willing to pose for a photo even before I had purchased anything. It was while browsing her pictures that I noticed that she had also starred in Seinfeld. Although I’ve seen the episode The Limo probably a dozen times, I had never realized that she had been Eva in that episode. I later learned that she had also starred as Audrey in the Seinfeld episode The Pie, and had played Tricia in my very favorite episode of Family Ties, The Real Thing. This gal got around!
Then I moved on to Hilly. Although my movie crush had been on Deb, I now found that a new crush had blossomed on Judie Aronson, the actress who had played Hilly. She too had done other work of course; her acting gigs included Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Sledge Hammer!, The New Leave It To Beaver, Growing Pains, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
The kicker here was how incredible she looked. I could not believe that this 46-year old actress was standing next to me looking more ravishing than she had when she was only 20. And like Suzanne, she was every bit as nice and friendly – not charging anything for the photo with her.
It was an utter pleasure and a complete thrill to meet and greet Suzanne Snyder and Judie Aronson. Back in 1987 when I was quoting Weird Science and naming girls as our own ‘Deb and Hillys’, I never dreamed that I’d actually get the chance to meet them both – especilly together – one day.
Celebrities of the Spring 2011 Chiller Show will continue…
HA! good work.
They both look great!

They’re both beautiful! I always had an affection towards Hilly and I’ve dated someone that looked similar to Judie. I watched Weird Science last night on the Encore Channel and today I saw Suzann on the Seinfeld episode The Limo on TBS. A double dose of Suzann!
Thanks for doing this!
