"Your car is uglier than I am!" - Carol, "American Graffiti"

If one needed proof of my geekiness – or my devotion to the art of cinema, they need look no further than my choice of photograph that I chose to purchase from Rae Dawn Chong at the Chiller Theatre Show in Parsippany, New Jersey, on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Make no mistake, Rae Dawn, daughter of half of the comedy team Cheech & Chong, is hot. But I bypassed the photos from Commando orĀ from Soul Man, or even The Color Purple, that might have shown her in a more voluptuous state.

Instead I opted for a photo of her as Ika, in the non-speaking role that she performed for the film Quest for Fire. This was in fact her very first theatrical film, and her performance was absolutely incredible. Rae Dawn herself was quite nice and friendly, although she did charge the extra $10 for a photo with her. Hey, but I didn’t really have a choice. My other picture of her shows her covered in primitive make-up, so we had to check out her beauty some other way, right?
