Brad's Musings and Meanderings

"Is this a musical table?" - Paul, "Flirting with Disaster"

I won’t go so far as to say that Edward Furlong was nasty or mean, but he was certainly the most un-enthusiastic celebrity I think I’ve ever encountered. Still I am glad I got my chance to meet this star of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which I consider to be one of the greatest action films ever made. Amazingly, through the drug addiction problems, the domestic charges and restraining orders, the supposed affair with Paris Hilton, bankruptcy, the public intoxication arrest near Cincinnati, and amazingly, a pretty constant stream of acting work – he was able find time to appear at the Wizard World Comic Con show on Saturday, August 13, 2011.

Our encounter was business and nothing more. He looked dazed, confused, and bored to be there. He wasn’t friendly, and he didn’t attempt to greet me or anyone else in the vicinity. And quite surprisingly, he had absolutely no line. This might be why he was not a happy camper.

But on the up-side, after I put down my $25 for his signed photo, he willingly posed for a photo with me for free. I guess the word ‘pose’ is applicable, since he just sort of stood there and looked sort-of alive as our picture was snapped.

It’s too bad. I really do hope he pulls it together. He’s exhibited talent in not only as the central character of the young John Connor in Terminator 2, but also Detroit Rock City, American History X, and many other films – so it would be a shame if we saw his name in the paper with more bad news.

  1. At least he appears to have good taste in music.

  2. I liked him American History X. When I was in L.A. last month I got to see where they filmed some of that movie on Muscle Beach. It was pretty cool. I’m sorry he wasn’t more pleasant in person.

  3. I used to have the biggest crush on him when I was a kid.

    Natalie
