“Why Don’t You Read My Mind?”

Thursday, July 4th, 2013

hh1Pop quiz! What is my very favorite TV movie ever made? I have one suggestion in figuring out this conundrum: you can check out my postings on Barry Bostwick or Richard Anderson to find the answer. Another suggestion might be: “Why don’t you read my mind?” Or figure out which TV movie my Columbo writers Richard Levinson and William Link employs that very same phrase as the final line in its serpentine murder mystery plot. Or I could just tell you…it’s a 1979 telefilm called Murder by Natural Causes that my Dad recorded on our own 1979-model VCR for our family, our extended family, and our friends to watch during visits to our house. Oliver and My Company

oliver3If you’ve ever found yourself singing Food, Glorious Food – or even Consider Yourself or I’d Do Anything – then chances are you’ve seen either the Broadway show or the film Oliver! I’ve only seen the film, and I’ve liked it. New York, New York, Part One, Part One

ny3With the number of times that I’ve flown into New York City, I have spent very scant time doing anything there. The first time I made it into the city was in 1994 when the Sons of the Desert Convetion was held in Tareytown, on the far northern outskirts of the city. My family and my friend John Poe took a train into Grand Central and walked around, doing little else but gawking. My friend Peter guided me to Yankee Stadium once and to Manhattan another time during a pair of my Chiller excursions, but we did little but eat at the Hard Rock Cafes in each location. This is all my way of saying that there was lots and lots and lots of stuff that I needed to see. Read the rest of this entry »

Another Halloween Victim

Thursday, June 27th, 2013

tg1Okay, I promise you that the postings related to the Halloween franchise will come to an end at some point, but for now I still have a few celebrity encounters related to the series that I must share. This one is a little bit more on the obsucre side and is one that I had to be in the right frame of mind to pick up. It comes from Halloween 5, the 1989 entry in the series that featured Danielle Harris as little Jamie Lloyd – whom I’ve already covered here. Typically I don’t get autographs from all the victims of mad killers such as Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers, but I made an exception with Tamara Glynn, who played Samantha Thomas in the film.
